1. The composition of pelagic sediments is controlled by three main factors. 2. The remainder of the sediment is composed chiefly of pelagic sediments . 3. Between the epiclastics and muds lie background accumulations of pelagic sediment . 4. These pelagic sediments are typically bright red to chocolate brown in color. 5. Pelagic sediments of red mud dominate the deeper regions.6. Between the carbonate banks, coeval pelagic sediment was deposited in the intervening structural lows. 7. Such instrumentation includes acoustic mappers and a pelagic sediment profiler to produce maps of the sea floor. 8. Pelagic sediments , containing significant quantities of siliceous biogenic remains, are commonly referred to as siliceous ooze.9. As the least common type of pelagic sediment , it covers only 15 % of the ocean floor. 10. Though slow by human standards, this rate is much faster than that for deep-sea pelagic sediments .
